Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question 1:
What are the Check-in and Check-out times? Is it possible to have an earlier Check-in or a later Check-out time?

Answer 1:
Check-in time: 4:00pm
Check-out time: 10:00am.
If there are no guests prior or after the booked dates, you can contact the owner to request an earlier check-in or later check-out times. The owner will try to accommodate the request, though this is not guaranteed.

Question 2:
What is provided? Should we bring our own basic supplies like soap?

Answer 2:
The villa is fully equipped and has all necessities to have a comfortable stay. Basic supplies such as toilet paper, garbage bags, soap, dish washer soap, and a towel paper are provided to last 1 or 2 days so you don’t have to rush to the grocery store on the first day. Being a self-serve villa, you do eventually have to purchase your own supplies. A Walmart Superstore is 5 minutes from the villa, and a Publix is 10 minutes from the villa. If you would like to receive a welcome package with basic necessities that last longer (for an additional cost), please let us know.

Question 3:
Is there daily housekeeping service?

Answer 3:
While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rate. However, we can offer mid stay cleaning through our property manager who will charge an extra fee for the service. There should be several set of linens and towels per bedroom. If you don’t find enough, ensure they have not been moved around from bedroom to bedroom.

Question 4:
Is the villa fully furnished, and includes all utensils needed for cooking, and so on?

Answer 4:
Yes!

Question 5:
Are beach towels provided?

Answer 5:
Yes! Typically, they are stored above the washing and dryer machines.

Question 6: 
Where do we trash the garbage? What about recycling?

Answer 6:
There are two large brown garbage bins outside of the villa (on one of the side walls). Bins are collected on Thursday mornings. Please move the bin close to the road the night before (on Wednesday evening after 6:00pm). After collected, please put the bin back to where they were before 11:59pm on Thursday or the city will fine you (US$25 per day) and this will be taken from your deposit.

With respect to recycling, as of March 1st, 2017 there is a new large bin to be used specifically for recycling. Please put all items to recycle in that bin such as bottles, newspaper, boxes, etc. (don’t worry about being tidy!). There are also two boxes (one yellow, one blue) that used to be used prior to the recycle bin being provided.  Please do NOT use those boxes. Ensure to put the recycling bin with other brown garbage bins close to the road (bin handles should be closer to the house), and put them back at the same time.

If the garbage collection day falls on a holiday, the collection is typically moved by a day. So instead of Thursday, garbage would be picked up on Friday (so ensure to put the garbage bins out on Thursday night). A good indication about when the garbage should be put out is to see what the neighbors in the community are doing!

Please note that because garbage collection day and guests’ check-out day do not often match, you may find garbage in the bins from previous guests. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about this.

Please also be careful that neighbors don’t use the bins from the villa. Some times they inadvertently put our bins in other houses.

Question 7:
Can we park on the street overnight?

Answer 7:
Overnight parking on the street is not allowed by the city, and you may be fined. The villa has space for 2 cars to be parked on the driveway. You should only park on paved surfaces; parking on the grass or on vacant lots is not permitted. When parking, don’t block sidewalks which are used by guests and residents who enjoy walking around the community.

Question 8:
Is pool/spa heating required? Is it at an extra cost?

Answer 8:
During the months of November to March, pool/spa heating is recommended. Solar pool heating is offered at the villa free of charge; however, we cannot guarantee the pool/spa will be warm enough since this is dependent on the sun. To guarantee the pool/spa is warm, we compensate with gas pool heating which is provided at an additional cost. You can pay for gas pool heating ahead of your stay; or you can decide while at the villa:

  • If payment is done ahead of your stay, the pool/spa will be heated when you arrive to the villa.
  • If you request gas pool/spa heating while at the villa by emailing the owner, the expense can be paid by phone with a credit card to our property manager and the owner will turn on gas pool heating remotely with his smart phone. Note that it can take up to 1 day to heat up the pool.

A pool and spa cover is provided and recommended to use overnight. This will allow the pool/spa to stay warm longer. Covering the pool/spa is easy: Just remember to put the side with “bubbles” facing down, touching the water.

Question 9:
Is the spa (a.k.a Jacuzzi, or hot tub) heated separately from the pool?

Answer 9:
Yes. If you only want to use the spa, it can be heated separately. Moreover, it can be heated ‘on-demand’, meaning that after you make this request to the owners by e-mail, they can turn it on with their smart phones. Contact the owners for details.

Question 10:
Is there a BBQ in the villa?

Answer 10:
A BBQ can be made available through our property manager if requested ahead of time for a small fee.

Question 11:
We are 11 in our family. Can we fit in your villa?

Answer 11:
No. There is a maximum occupancy limit of 10 people in the villa, so you would not be allowed to have 11 members staying in the villa. Note that the villa has 4 bedrooms which can comfortably accommodate 8 guests. The villa also has a sofa-bed in the living room which can accommodate 2 more guests.

Question 12:
Does the villa include strollers, high chairs, playpens?

Answer 12:
Yes! The villa includes one stroller, one high chair, and a playpen. Through our property manager you can rent more items.

Question 13:
Which TV channels are available? Are there channels broadcasting in Spanish? What about Netflix?

Answer 13:
We offer the Preferred HD TV package from our Cable TV provider (Frontier.com). You can see the list of channels here (Under the Preferred HD column heading):

For other channels that show as ‘blocked’, typically they require payment and that would be charged to the owner’s Frontier.com account, which would be deducted from your damage deposit. In addition, with so many families with small children renting the villa, we have set parenting mode so it blocks titles that are explicit. The master bedroom on the second floor does not have parenting mode set.

With the preferred HD channels in the above link you should have plenty of movies to choose from!. The BLU Ray player also has access to Netflix, but you need to input your Netflix account information.

Question 14:
Do you offer high-speed internet?

Answer 14:
Yes! Wireless high-speed internet is included in the price for staying at this property. As part of Frontier.com’s Preferred HD bundle, we get 75/75 Mbps internet.

Question 15:
Is there a pool table, Foosball table, and air hockey table in the game room?

Answer 15:
Yes! However, from time to time, some of these tables are temporarily removed from the game room for maintenance, and to ensure they are in top condition. The owners will strive to have all of these tables available as much time as possible.

Question 16:
Is there a mailbox for the house? I only see mail boxes on the other side of the street. Can I ship something to this house?

Answer 16:
There is no mailbox. If you are mailing something to the house that uses a courier company like UPS or FedEx, they will deliver to the front door. They typically ring the bell and then go, so it is better if you are home when they deliver the package. Though it has never happened before, we cannot guarantee someone steals the packages from the front door.

Question 17:
Is smoking allowed?

Answer 17:
Smoking is prohibited inside the villa; however you can smoke outside, or in the Lanai/pool deck area as long as all doors are closed.

Question 18:
Are pets allowed?

Answer 18:
No. Pets are not allowed in the villa.

Question 19:
Where can I find discounted tickets for the parks?

Answer 19:
Unfortunately, it is hard to find good deals for Disney. This web site: https://www.undercovertourist.com/

has some discounts for Disney and other parks, but we have not tried it, and the discount amounts are not that great.

For SeaWorld, we do have seen some discount (well, not really a discount, but they give you free extra days). Check their web site.

Legoland tickets can be found cheaper at Costco Orlando (but you need to be a member of Costco). Last time we checked, they were offered for $49.99.

If you know someone who is a Florida resident who’d be going with you, he can get a good ‘Florida resident’ discount.

Some associations like AAA or CAA (automobile associations) can also give you some discount.

Question 20:
Are there restaurants and grocery stores around the villa?

Answer 20:
Yes!. The closest grocery store is Walmart Super Center (open 24 hours). The owner sends a document with a small map with approximate location of restaurants in the area. In addition, previous guests provided this feedback:
